LQB Blogger Interview: Shruti Tewari | Strike A Chord
I was 11 years old when I realized my love for fashion. Growing up with 3 older sisters (youngest of 6 kids in total!), it wasn’t a surprise I came to discover this love after playing in all their closets. I found myself wanting to go shopping with them, asking for clothes for Christmas instead of toys and buying magazines like Teen People and Glamour, with my allowance. I chose to go with a Lifestyle blog so that I while I could write about beauty, DIY and all the other things I’m passionate about, I could still write about my love for fashion. I have been making more of an effort to feature more fashion in my social media posts and am slowly but surely, bringing fashion to the blog. Today, I’m featuring Lifestyle Blogger, Shruti Tewari from Strike A Chord, who taps right into my love of fashion – and I’m sure you’re going to love her too! She’s sweet, has a great eye for fashion, & is from Toronto, too! Instead of me telling you all about Shruti, why don’t I let you read her interview so you can fall in love with her all on your own? 🙂
- Tell us a bit about yourself and your blog.
I am Shruti and I would like to call myself a Quaintrelle– A woman who emphasizes a life of passion expressed through personal style, leisurely pastimes, charm, and cultivation of life’s pleasures.I blog about Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle with snippets of Motherhood, Travelling, Pets and Food thrown in here and there :)I aim to strike a chord within the hearts of the people who read and view my Shlogs ( Shruti’s short blogs and vlogs) by posting real, honest and time-saving content.
I am an MBA and my educational background is in Accounting but Fashion and Beauty are my passions!
I am also a certified makeup artist from the Canadian Beauty College of Toronto, Canada and I will be blogging about a lot of easy and ingenious makeup tips and tricks!
I aim to create REAL, RESONATING content- about issues women can RELATE with.
Hence, the name Strikeachordblog – hoping to resonate within your hearts through my Shlogs and stories️
- What inspired you to start your blog?
I have been a person who likes to express personal experiences visually, via photos and short write-ups, whether it is food, traveling or fashion and beauty. In the last couple of years, there has been a sudden surge of many online bloggers, especially in fashion and beauty, and even though it has all been very good to see, it didn’t really resonate with me – there was a lack of a personal touch, or stories which were backing up the content I was seeing online – in other words, nothing was striking a chord – it was all good to see, not good to be true – for an average woman on a budget like me, the fashion and beauty content online was just too out of reach to enact or relive on a daily basis – and that was quite frustrating – plus, lack of good write ups to back up the heavily styled shoots – I was seeing content which was not essentially for the everyday woman- and this inspired me to start my own blog.I was already very active on my personal social media and people would always tell me how my photos and the stories accompanying them touched their hearts and I decided to translate this on a bigger level 🙂
- Did you have any professional help or did you create the blog yourself?
I am truly a one-woman army! This blog is my baby and I have had ZERO professional help. I have put in a lot of research and educated myself a lot – and I still do – in order to build my blog and make it look more and more visually appealing, within the limited budget and reach that I have.It has truly required a lot of effort since I am not a very tech-savvy person and neither do I have the finances to go extremely pro.
- Is blogging your profession or just a hobby?
As of now, Blogging is my Hobby and Passion! I would love for it to be a profession in time 🙂
- If you could blog about another niche, what would it be?
The one other niche I would love to blog about is Cooking! I love cooking, hosting people over and feeding them! I love to try new recipes, plate my food well, click photos and share what a particular dish or recipe means to me. Food is my second favourite F-word after Fashion!!!
- What was the most challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?
The most challenging moments in my blogging journey till date are:
- To try to educate myself with various blogging applications and software like Adobe, Canva, etc. for better quality of photos
- To find good and professional photographers who help budding bloggers with their expertise and yet, are easy on the pocket – many bloggers don’t have the finances to hire very expensive photographers and this is a very demotivating obstacle! After a lot of struggling, I have finally managed to find an amazing photographer who fits my needs!
- What do you think is the best service a blogger can provide to his/her readers?
As a blogger who is also a reader of many blogs, the best service which a blogger can provide to his/her readers, according to me, is to respond! Try to respond to all the comments and feedback coming your way and try to do it with as much maturity, love, and openness as possible.
- How would you describe your blogging style?
Initially, my blogging style was extremely amateur, now I am trying to build up a theme feed and working toward better photos and more and more unique content.I have narrowed down my niche to Fashion and Beauty and all my blogs are laced with my own ethnic take and Indian elements and how I incorporate them in the Western world.
- In the future, where do you hope your blog will take you?
In the future, I hope my blog helps me achieve my aim of striking a chord in the hearts of my readers- I want to let people know that they are not alone, I want to be able to stir their souls with my stories and Shlogs ( Shruti’s short blogs and vlogs).Surely a business out of a blog is an ideal thing, but being able to create a meaningful difference in the life of even a single person would mean the world to me!
- What is your greatest achievement outside of blogging?
I feel my greatest achievement outside of blogging is my family- I am a mother and a wife and my family is my biggest strength and pride.
Ok, now tell me you don’t love her?? I’m all about #communityovercompetition and Shruti embodies that through and through. Thanks so much for letting us all get to know you, Shruti! ♥
Shruti will be back again on Thursday as my guest so please be sure to check in later this week – and if you want to see more of her in the meantime, be sure to follow her on Instagram (her pictures are gorgeous!)
