Guest Post: Bougie on a Budget – Under $50 Fashion Challenge

Note from Lana | Lifestyle Queen BeeBack when I was a teenager (we don’t have to discuss how far back that is exactly), I was OBSESSED with magazines. I loved looking at all the pictures of how celebrities put their outfits together. One particular segment I loved was when they would put together an outfit from head to toe under a certain dollar amount. That’s definitely where my love of putting together great outfits on a dime came together. Today’s guest post, written by Vanessa Wood from Green Acres from Paris, is all about that – putting together an outfit for under Continue reading “Guest Post: Bougie on a Budget – Under $50 Fashion Challenge”

Guest Post: Celebrities with Awesome Beauty Lines

Note from Lana | Lifestyle Queen Bee: At some point or another, we have a fascination (or obsession) with the lives of celebrities. It’s kinda hard not to in this day and age when they are constantly splashed all over our social media, TVs and magazines. Before, we used to look up to celebrities for their glamourous lifestyles (luxurious vacations, stunning homes, expensive clothes) but now, we see them pushing products and services our way more than ever. It seems like every actor and singer has something they’ve attached to their celebrity status to. While some can be cheap and tacky (sorry!), some have actually created some amazing brands, proving they’re more than just a pretty face. In today’s guest post by Mia Taylor from www.highstylife.com, she’s highlighting the top beauty lines some celebrities have created that are pretty badass!

It’s common knowledge that as soon as someone gets famous, they do their best to earn as much side money they can. That is why many celebrities choose to put their name on some garbage beauty products. However, there are always those who know what they are doing, and they’re doing an amazing job. Here is the list of 7 magnificent people whose products you’ve probably already heard of, and should definitely try out.

[ Jessica Alba – The Honest Company ]

Jessica Alba launched her company in 2012. Since then, the world of non-toxic and eco-friendly cosmetics turned upside down. We admire her products because they are absolutely free of all potentially harmful ingredients (parabens, phthalates etc.) and are much more pigmented and long-lasting than other natural beauty products.

[ Salma Hayek – Nuance Salma Hayek ]

Salma is also one of the rare persons who are super careful about which products she puts her name on. She truly loves and believes in her creations. In fact, she believes in her CVS-based hair and makeup products so much, that she pulled out a bottle of her texture enhancing finish spray and demonstrated it on her publicist in the middle of her Allure cover shoot.

[ Drew Barrymore – Flower ]

Drew Barrymore connected shockingly good quality with affordable prices. Her products range from lip glosses to makeup brushes, and they were developed in the same labs as many popular and high-end cosmetics. She said that people deserve something that is good and not too much of an investment. Now that’s what we call humaneness.

[ Jeffree Star – Jeffree Star Cosmetics ]

Of course that the sassiest person on the planet has to have a spot in this article as well! We are in love with Jeffree Star cosmetics because of its variety and quality. We are constantly enchanted by the unconventional coloured lipsticks (that by the way last longer than some relationships), the “Skinfrost” highlighters that give your cheeks that blinding effect, as well as killer eyeshadow palettes that make our eyes look like we came straight from a red carpet event.

[ Eva Mendes – Circa ]

Of course we have no chances of attaining her level of God-like beauty, but we can give ourselves a luxury of faking her higher-than-sky cheekbones with her new cosmetics line – Circa. You can find it at Walgreens, but don’t be fooled – this isn’t even close to typical drugstore products. Circa shadow palettes are extremely pigmented and feel really silky, while her voluminizing mascara with avocado oil makes your eyelashes shiny and clump-free.

[ Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian – Kardashian Beauty ]

It is like their parents “made” them inside some kind of beauty factory, not bedroom. They know it all – fashion, social media, entertainment and beauty. The proof is the wild success of their 2012 makeup line. Whatever you pick, you can’t go wrong, but our absolute favourite is their Pure Glitz Hairspray that gives your hair the best possible shield for those upcoming hot summer days.

[ Miranda Kerr – Kora Organics ]

Miranda was disgusted with the number of dangerous chemicals in commercial skincare products, so she decided to create her own line of green skincare products. They are filled with antioxidants that help you detoxify and recharge your skin the best way possible, with zero harmful ingredients. Also, they are enriched with noni juice – a fruit that contains more than 100 different minerals and vitamins. Besides this, there is also her macadamia oil and olive oil hand cream that won the Best of Beauty award in 2014.

That would be it – the ultimate list. Now all that is left for you to do is to start saving your “greens”.

Thanks for such an awesome list, Mia! While these are all great lines, I know there are many others that are as equally amazing that didn’t make the list – which celebrity beauty line would you add to this list? Share in the comments below!

Guest Post: Squeezing the “Other Stuff” into The Life of a Part-Time Blogger

Note from Lana | Lifestyle Queen BeeMany of us bloggers aren’t living the glamorous life of being paid to travel, wear expensive clothes & use amazing products. Although it is our dream to eventually quit our 9 to 5’s to be paid to do what we love, the reality is, the majority of us blog on the side. If you say keeping your blog up to date, finding new, exciting content to write about and all the behind the scenes work like social media promotion/engagement, etc is easy…well, my friend, you would be lying. yes, there are times when things seem to run smoothly and that much needed Editorial Calendar of yours keeps you on track. But like it always does, life tends to get in the way and often at the most inconvenient of times. This can throw life into utter chaos and brings everything it touches into the hurricane. Today’s guest post, written by the amazing Katy Walton, is here to help you get all those ‘behind the scenes’ pieces into place so that you feel like you can keep your head over ‘blogging’ waters. Guest Post: Addicted to Black (Fashion)

Note from Lana | Lifestyle Queen Bee: I think we’ve all had a time in our fashion lives where we were drawn to black everything – shoes, clothes, accessories – we just couldn’t get enough. For myself, it got so bad that friends & family would only buy me colourful articles of clothing for birthdays, Christmas and would slap my hand if I even touched a black article of clothing while out shopping. Flash forward many years later, the dark side of my closet is now minimal as I have embraced colour with open arms (but still catch myself obsessing over those black pieces). If you are someone who loves every shade of black there is, then today’s guest post from Shruti over at Strike A Chord blog is for you (Shruti was my featured blogger on Tuesday so if you missed her awesome interview, check it out here).

Spring is finally here and temperatures are above Zero degrees!!! Yayyy!!! But if you are like me, Continue reading “Guest Post: Addicted to Black (Fashion)”

LQB Blogger Interview: Shruti Tewari | Strike A Chord

I was 11 years old when I realized my love for fashion. Growing up with 3 older sisters (youngest of 6 kids in total!), it wasn’t a surprise I came to discover this love after playing in all their closets. I found myself wanting to go shopping with them, asking for clothes for Christmas instead of toys and buying magazines like Teen People and Glamour, with my allowance. I chose to go with a Lifestyle blog so that I while I could write about beauty, DIY and all the other things I’m passionate about, I could still write about my love for fashion. I have been making more of an effort to feature more fashion in my social media posts and am slowly but surely, bringing fashion to the blog. Today, I’m featuring Lifestyle Blogger, Shruti Tewari from Strike A Chord, who taps right into my love of fashion – and I’m sure you’re going to love her too! She’s Continue reading “LQB Blogger Interview: Shruti Tewari | Strike A Chord”

Guest Post: When You Should Give Out Your Work For Free?

Note from Lana | Lifestyle Queen Bee: One thing I’ve struggled with as a blogger trying to attract new readers is the level of content you give away for free to draw in your readers. Some people give such amazing content away for free that I would have sold! Then on the other hand, I feel like things I consider giving away are too lackluster and nobody will bite. Does this sound familiar? If you are also finding it tough to determine when to give your work away for free, then today’s post is for you. My guest, Maurine Anderson, is sharing how you know when it’s the right time to give your goods away, free of charge.

It seems that the more and more digital we get, the more people expect access to free content and services. While this increased access to free content and services is a great thing in many ways, it can really complicate things for bloggers and business owners. How do you get consumers to see the value of paid content or services? When is it appropriate to ask people to pay for your work, and when might it be beneficial to give out your work for free? Continue reading “Guest Post: When You Should Give Out Your Work For Free?”
