10 Ways To Make New Friends

10 Ways To Make New Friends | lifestylequeenbee.com

If you’ve been following me and my blog journey, you’ll know I’ve recently moved to Toronto from Ottawa a little over 2 months ago with my husband. While I have my sister and her family here, I don’t know anyone else here.

As many of you probably know from personal experience, making friends is hard. If you’re not in school or work in a massive company, it’s one of the most daunting tasks you can be faced with. Growing up, I was painfully shy but through school and my after school activities, was able to make friends. I grew out of the shyness but am still a true introvert so I’m a homebody – which doesn’t make it any easier to make new friends. It is SO important to have friends around you. Yes, while I still have close friends back home I talk to on a daily basis, it doesn’t change the fact I don’t have a friend or two to go hang out with after work or to try new things with. And it sucks. It is hands down the hardest part of moving to a new city.

But if you’re like me, sometimes it just takes a bit of Continue reading “10 Ways To Make New Friends”

Spicy Ranch Burgers

With Canada Day just days away (& Memorial Day for my American readers), many of us are planning a great BBQ with friends and family.

$100 bucks says you’ll be serving hamburgers. No judgment here because so will I (who doesn’t love a great burger?) but why not serve up a twist on the summertime staple and have your guests drooling? Rock their tastebuds with the combo of smoky chipotle and creamy ranch in this delicious spicy ranch burger!

Brushing with Activated Charcoal + 5 Things To Do This Weekend | www.lifestylequeenbee.com

Nobody wants to have yellow teeth. Sometimes you don’t even realize your sparkling white smile has taken a downward turn until you wear that new shade if red lipstick and *gasp* see the difference in your smile. Embarrassing, right? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. We’ve all had moments of ‘less than stellar white’ smiles. That coffee-a-day (or 2 – guilty as charged) doesn’t exactly help your cause. Now before you lose your mind thinking I’m going to suggest quitting your much required daily cup of sanity, I’ve got a solution for you – Charcoal.

No, No. Not the kind you’ll be using this weekend to fire up the grill. Activated charcoal which is totally safe (& good for you!) to consume. Before you write me off as crazy, Continue reading “Brushing w/ Activated Charcoal + 5 Things To Do This Weekend”

#LifestyleQueenBee Reviews…NYX Cosmetics

LQB Reviews Header

Lifestyle Queen Bee Reviews NYX CosmeticsDo you have a make-up line that you just can’t get enough of? For me, that’s NYX Cosmetics.

NYX has really blown up over the years, perhaps through it’s integration into the monthly ipsy subscriptions (if you want to subscribe to the monthly glam bag, click here) but I have been following it since the early seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race (before the switched to Anastasia). When they announced they were selling the line in Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM) here in Canada (think Walgreens for those of you in the U.S. reading this post), I was BEYOND excited. I hunted down the line in every SDM I could find but no matter when or where I went, the shelves were cleared out. Don’t feel too bad for me because once I was able to start getting my hands on the stuff, I couldn’t stop.

In case some of you haven’t heard of NYX or have wanted to try some of their cosmetics, here’s a review of some of my favourite items from their line! Continue reading “#LifestyleQueenBee Reviews…NYX Cosmetics”

5 Books To Read This Summer

Whether you’re hitting the beach, the pool or just lounging out back with a cold drink, here’s 5 great books I would recommend you pick up at some point this summer (consider these ‘oldies but goodies’):

  1. Dark Places by Gillian Flynn 5 Books To Read This Summer + Free Printable Colouring Page Bookmark
This novel by Gillian Flynn (who wrote the addictive ‘Gone Girl’ novel) tells the story of Libby Day, who was just 7 years old when her mother and two sisters were murdered in “The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas.” She survived—and famously testified that her fifteen-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, the Kill Club—a secret society obsessed with notorious crimes—locates Libby and pumps her for details. They hope to discover proof that may free Ben. This was a definite page turner for me. I finished this book in 3 days if that tells you anything.
